I am a incredibly huge Disney freak, I have been to Walt Disney World many, many times and could spend every vacation there (even though my wife could not!). In November, we were in Orlando at WDW and decided to leave the property to see the brand new Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. The first thing I thought when I saw this amazing section of the park was that Universal had out 'Disneyed' Disney. It is an almost perfect trip into the world of Harry Potter.
We choose to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter because we have become a family obsessed. My wife had read all the books as they came out and had started reading them to my daughter (9). I had avoided the books, but started to read them to my son (6). Next thing you know we were all addicted and wanted to read more and more and more. We made a rule in our house that you could not see a Harry Potter movie until the book was finished.
The theming of the area is perfect, you feel like you have stepped out of the book and into Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. The kids had an amazing time (and so did Mom and Dad!). We spent lots of time just walking around (our only complaint is that the Wizarding World is not big--they need to expand!). My personal favorite: Butterbeer! A combination of cream soda, butterscotch and other flavors else that is to die for. There were a few fights over the mugs.
